Yosh has been invited to radio program P3 Populär again! Today she was a part of a creative think tank together with popculture journalist Fredrik Strage from morning paper Dagens Nyheter, popculture journalist Kristin Lundell from morning paper Svenska Dagbladet and designer Jonas Yrlid from the advertising agency King. The objective given to the think tank by the ingenious P3 Populär crew is to come up with new superheroes vaguely based on the concept for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Appearently, TMNT’s concept was built based on four words of what was most trendy at that time - teenagers, mutants, ninjas and turtles. Which are the new four keywords for the superheroes 2007? The answer is: EMO, ROBO, CHIHUAHUA, GLOBAL WARMING and DESTROYER (geez, so many words!).

The think tank members and the objective was presented to the listeners by program host Hanna Fahl.

Each of the members got to tell about their relationship to TNMT… Yosh, for example, watched the animations dubbed in cantonese (!) and played Turtles in time to Super Nintendo. Those were times!

Think tank gathered! They had only 1½ hour to come up with the concept! Early in the process Kristin’s love for Gerard and My Chemical Romance and Emo subculture were revealed! Jonas got excited talking about robots and global warming. And Fredrik took liking in the aggressive tone of the word “destroyer” and had at the same time an interest for chihuahua dogs…

Now and then a curious Hanna sneaked out from the studio with a michrophone in her hand to give the listeners an update about the progress.

Vroom vroom vroom! The think tank worked really hard. There was not much time left.

Yosh looked up the reporters’ computers to surfe after references. How do you mix EmoRobo, Chihuahua, Global Warming och Destroyer?! Only the think tank knows.

Here you can see the result again! In the front is the Emorobo chihuahua Gerard with a typical Emo haircut, black eyeliner, rockish jacket and a pair of Converse shoes. To the left is the fashionrobo chihuahua Princess, saving the world by stomping on enemies with her gigantic balet shoes. To the right is Dolph, the super aggressive and impulsive robochihuahua. In the middle of the picture is a bunch of desperate pinguins facing a sure death if nothing is done to the global warming. To save their home, they have invented the EMOROBOS!

When Soya woke up this morning she had no idea she would be on a TV show later today! The Swedish TV channel Kanal Lokal Stockholm called us today and invited Yosh and Soya to appear in their entertainment show Rock ‘n Roll TV on live broadcast to talk about Yokaj Studio and manga. It was a very spontanous and fun thing to do! Yosh has made a couple of TV appearances before, but this was Soyas debut!

At Kanal Lokal! We were shown upstairs to get our make-up done by their make-up artist.

The make-up artist told us how amazed she is because asian faces grow old so slowly.

The live broadcast would soon begin. Yosh and Soya was shown in to the studio.

The hosts showed the covers of our coming books - Teckna lätt manga and Manga Skoldagbok 2007/2008.

Soya got wrong name tag in the beginning of the show. It said “Yosh - manga artist”. But the technicians removed the wrong tag as soon as they noticed their mistake.

We talked a bit about “highvision”, Soya’s award winning contribution to the Swedish manga talent competition Mangatalangen 2006.

We appreciated how Rock ‘n Roll TV made our stuff appear on TV. They said a lot of good stuff about Yokaj Studio.

Today Yosh and Kajfa has been visiting the Swedish readio program P3 Populär (Swedish only) to chat about Yokaj Studio and manga! It was all a very pleasent experience. The hostess Hanna Fahl was very nice to talk to and the rest of the staff was also very nice! Before coming to the show, their reporter Navid Modiri asked us to make a 4-steps how to draw picture for them. Here you can see the final result, it’s a picture of Navid and Hanna and Yosh and Kajfa. Hanna was delighted when she received the picture.

It was both snowing and raining on our way there. Not so pleasent, but we kept our spirits high!

In this photo we are sitting in the radio show’s guest room. It was varm and cozy.

Reporter Jesper Ljunggren kept us company while we were waiting for our turn to debute in the Swedish radio. Jesper told us a funny story about his interview with Nelly Furtado. He got five minutes to interview her, and he realized when he was standing there with her that his recorder was not working (even though he had checked it many times before! XD)

We keep getting amazed when having visited TV or radio. They don’t need many people to run the shows, in this case there are only four people. On the photo you can see P3 Populär’s producer Calle Dernulf.

Here you can see the very skilled sound technician. Can’t understand how she keeps track on all those buttons and settings…
